Single and looking to buy a home? 10 locations to consider
The Telegraph reports "Research has identified the 10 most affordable areas in Britain for those on a single income, based on the proportion of a monthly wage that must be set aside for mortgage repayments. Top of the list is Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, where the average mortgage repayment on a one-bedroom flat equates to just 10.84 per cent of the median monthly wage in the area – three times less than the average for England and Wales (35.14 per cent). Coastal North Tyneside places second as single buyers only need to set aside 10.92 per cent of their monthly wage to service a mortgage. Yorkshire’s Bradford (11.79 per cent) and Kirklees (12.34 per cent), as well as Blackpool (12.48 per cent), complete the top five most affordable areas in the UK." Read more.
