‘Unfair’ letting agency fees scrapped

The Metro Reports “Two-and-a-half years after the ban was first announced, the Tenant Fees Act comes into effect from today, meaning millions across the UK will now avoid being ripped off. Private renters in England have up to now been paying £13 million a month in letting fees, said Citizens Advice, with many being charged just to view a property or to carry out reference checks.

Since the government committed to abolishing them in November 2016, renters have paid out a total of £234 million.”
