The consumer price inflation basket of goods and services is the annual review process to measure UK inflation. There are some interesting insights available as to how and why the various items in the basket are chosen. Factors include product availability and trends for example tricycles were removed as they were difficult to find and blueberries included as they are now available in a wider range of outlets.
